Maureen Denise McCormick, the sole child of Richard McCormick Irene McCormick, was born in Woodland Hills California on 5 August 1956. Her mother was at home and also mother to her children. Michael Dennis and Kevin are three of her older brothers. McCormick has always loved singing, dancing and putting on performances with puppets. McCormick won the Baby Miss San Fernando Valley contest at the age of 6 and was approached by Pat Domigan, a talent agent of the Jack Wormser Agency. He was interested in her desire to be a part of the business of show production. McCormick's first big job was during 1964, when she appeared in a television commercial featuring Mattels new Baby Pattaburp doll. In the following year, she starred in another commercial for the companys Chatty Cathy doll and was shortly cast in the musical the play Wind It Up And It Breaks on stage at La Jolla Playhouse. The Brady Bunch McCormick won a 1969 audition from 1,200 youngsters to be the oldest of the three twin daughters in the TV series The Brady Bunch, starring Florence Henderson as a newlywed and Robert Reed. The show lasted five seasons. In her book Heres the Story: Surviving Marcia Brady and Finding My True Voice released in 2008, McCormick disclosed that during the shows fifth season she was close to losing her virginity to her screen co-star and brother Barry Williams. The time was when she was just 16 years old and he was 19. She said that it would have been possible, but we never had the right timing.
